| The Diaconate Board Is composed of seven members of the congregation Supports the minister in the spiritual matters of the church Helps to serve communion Visits the sick Is responsible for committees such as Altar Committee, Music Committee, Acolytes, and Ushers Handles matters of discipline You will see Diaconate members serving communion, giving announcements at the beginning of worship, visiting in hospitals, homes or nursing facilities The Board of Trustees Is composed of seven members of the congregation Is responsible for all church property and finances Make the financial decisions of the church Prepare and oversee the annual budget Oversee the maintenance of the grounds of church property Make decisions allocating space within the church to organizations such as Head Start, For Kid’s Sake Learning Center, AA, Garden Club of Pinckney Lead our congregation in matters of Stewardship You will see Trustees directing the building of a new kitchen, organizing clean up crews, repairing anything connected with the church and Pastor Lynn’s home. The Outreach Board Is composed of seven members of the congregation Seeks ways in which our church can reach out to those with needs such as: food, clothing and shelter Supports missions locally and globally Coordinates special offerings You will see Outreach members organizing food collections at holidays, directing the REACH (Homeless) Program, running Relay for Life,and the Angel Tree. The Board of Christian Education Operates as a committee of congregational members Make decisions with the Pastor regarding the curriculum taught in Adult Sunday School, Bible Adventures, VBS, and Book Studies, and Adult Bible Study groups. Oversee the activities of various youth groups such as Senior High, Junior High and KidZone You will see Christian Education members directing children and adults in educational programs throughout the church These four boards work together through a Church Council which meets 4 or more times a year. The Church Moderator conducts the meeting to allow all boards and committees an opportunity to share current plans and ideas, and promote communication. |
