| What does it take to know what is going on and to stay informed about our church? That question came to mind after the recent “Thinking Cap Luncheon” and survey. Some of the comments were: -Publicize more -Announcements in church and on web site -Use website more -Include church calendar on web site -Need public relations person -Invitations sent for sleepovers and kids programs -Get word out so that those who don’t get The Messenger get the news These comments got me thinking about how we get the word out. We advertise in the Press & Argus, have the calendar on the web site, send out a monthly newsletter, mail postcards out for special events, have announcements in the weekly bulletin, use email to remind folks of activities, call people on the phone to ask more about upcoming events, have announcements before worship, and we let people know what is going on by word of mouth. I am concerned that there are people who feel they are uninformed. What can we do better? Is there another avenue to transmit information? I would like to hear your comments. If you do not receive the newsletter in your mail, you can drop us a note, give us a call, or stop by the office and we will get you signed up. Newsletters are also available in the narthex and office. If you do not receive messages via email, let me know and you will begin receiving weekly updates immediately. Having said all of this, I still believe that the best way for the word about our church to be spread is by each individual sharing what we are doing and whom we are praising to everyone they meet. The word about Jesus was spread by a group of disciples who had seen the marvelous deeds of the Master and dared to go from town to town to let the message be heard. All of us are responsible for keeping others informed. If there is something specific we can be doing and you would like to help – let me know. Too many exciting things are happening at Community Congregational UCC as we seek to spread the message of God’s love, forgiveness, and acceptance. Won’t you join in this effort!
